Hello, I'm 
Nicola Smith
a Certified Dog Trainer

I have spent my life surrounded by and loving dogs and animals. I grew up in the country outside of Guelph, where I was on a farm with my four family Rottweilers, who I developed a strong attachment to. My love for my dogs inspired an interest in canine behaviour, which I furthered through investigative reading and practice, trying to understand how to apply training techniques that worked.

I had a few careers in my twenties, but I always felt like something was missing. What was missing was that I needed to work with dogs, so I quit my job and started a Dog Walking company called We Wag Toronto Inc. We Wag is a reputable 5-star company focusing on structured on-leash Walking services in multiple areas throughout Toronto.

Building We Wag and working with so many incredible dogs and their owners has been the most fulfilling thing I have done. I feel deeply connected to every dog I work with and have had great satisfaction from seeing that I can make a difference in their life. I believe We Wag has succeeded because I never felt like I was only walking dogs; I was always thinking about how I could make a difference and improve their and their owners' lives. One of the main things I have always loved to do was to help my dogs I was walking with their training. I would work on their leash skills; I would help puppies with fundamental training skills; I would help dogs brush up on their manners and also work with reactivity cases and behaviour modification. With all this Dog Training I was already doing for years, it only made sense that I take the next step in my career, and get certified as a Dog Trainer to add Professional Dog Training as an official service.

I studied under Expert Canine Behaviourist Cheri Wolf Lucas, completing her Train The Trainer program in California.

I also am a part of her on-going Learn to Lead Academy. 

I am certified as a Professional Pet Dog Trainer through the Good Dog Academy.

My style of Dog Training focuses on building a solid and healthy relationship

between you and your dog based on establishing trust, mutual respect, boundaries,

clear communication and doing things together that your dog enjoys.

I believe a good relationship between an owner and their dog is essential

to their overall well-being and happiness, and my training reflects that belief.

I follow the guidelines of LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive), which is a training philosophy based on positive reinforcement and humane techniques that prioritize the dog's emotional and physical well-being. My goal is to help dog owners develop a stronger bond with their dog, both inside the home and outside, where they can enjoy the many benefits of a well-trained, happy and well-behaved dog.
